So, we survived Irma. To be honest, I underestimated how much of a disruption Irma would be to the lab, but we made it through. 27 hours without power is purely a first world issue - especially given how others in the Caribbean fared but it gave us something to be very thankful for when the power came back on.
Living this far inland in Georgia, we originally thought the school closures were a touch premature, however the very trees that make Georgia beautiful are the projectiles that leave us without power. In the end it lead us to have to delay the shipment of some orders but as of Wednesday morning we were all caught up and our customers were very understanding. We pride ourselves on quick order processing, but we cannot overcome a power loss of this magnitude. It'd be nice to have a full generator backup system and maybe one day we can make it happen.
In terms of whats happening in the lab here's a brief list of things we'd like to let you know about:
- We have the Element 14 Pi Desktop kit in stock. This allows you to turn your Raspberry Pi 2/3 into a desktop computer and allows you to add an SSD for storage.
- We sold out of Onion Omega2+s last week and our next (very large) shipment should arrive on 9/19. Once we inventory the shipment, they will be available for purchase.
- Due to a scheduling conflict, the October 7th STEAM Saturday workshop at Tree House will be rescheduled for a date to be determined.
Check back as we will have some new products in the lab hitting the shelves this week and we will have more from our stroll around the OpenMV camera module.
